Vampire Knight #05

Could we just skip to the pivotal scenes already? I usually don’t mind watching mindless entertainment, but I just completed a marathon of Ergo Proxy and I need something with a little more substance. That’s not to say that I’m going to abandon this show anytime soon, but I suppose that I’m not really in the mood to watch anything shoujo-esque for the moment. I still think Zero’s a great character and I can relate to his self-loathing, but I have no desire to delve into the nitty gritty details of this episode. Yes, we know that Kaname runs the show between humans and vampires, that he’s a Pureblood, and has an ulterior motive where Yuuki is concerned, but we don’t know exactly what his plans are as well as what his true abilities really are. Also, the big question still remains unanswered: Why does he allow Zero to live when he knows that he’ll eventually become “un-tamable?” Why does he allow him to stay by Yuuki’s side when he himself has a desire for her blood? And why does he allow Zero to…uhh, I’ll refrain from writing the rest in case it’ll spoil the fun for those non-manga readers out there.

Hopefully, I’ll be more inspired to write something more creative with the next episode since that scene should be rather interesting, and I can’t wait to see it animated. Oh, and more tongue action from Zero is always a welcome sight. ^_^

Vampire Knight #04

Another solid episode, although I couldn’t help but feel somewhat disappointed by this one. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that having read the manga thoroughly and knowing exactly what’ll happen has pretty much ruined any element of surprise for me, give or take a few scenes that I didn’t remember. However, I continue to watch because I’m still looking forward to blogging those pivotal scenes that kept me wanting to read more and more of the manga, and it also provides an opportunity to share my thoughts on certain aspects of the story that I couldn’t before. I also think it’s nice that non-manga readers are finally being treated to a quality vampire story that is worthy of watching.

Vampire Knight #02

Note: If you’re wondering why I’m posting this here and not over there, I just felt that this was a more appropriate location for these types of episodic posts. Besides, I am soooo behind that I won’t even make a dent with this entry. Nonetheless, I hope you’ll continue to enjoy reading…for whatever it is worth.

I have to admit that this episode was considerably better than the previous one, and not only because of its primary focus on Zero and his inability to cope with certain realities, but I like the fact that it remained true to the storyline throughout the episode. [Off-topic: Do schoolgirls in Japan really scream like that?] One of the initial reasons I really liked Zero’s character was because of his inability (or unwillingness) to interact with others. He felt misunderstood and excluded by just about everyone. Unlike other people, Zero had nobody by his side. Nobody to tell him that everything was going to be okay. Nobody to fill that emptiness and void in his life. The only thing going for him was his quest to to find and eliminate the one responsible for murdering his family.

Holy…Have you been reading Vampire Knight?

This post has been brought to you by a bout of procrastination from Yours Truly as well as an inability to contain the surprise and shock from reading Volume 07, Chapter 35-36 of this wondrous manga. If you haven’t read this far, DO NOT continue reading this post. It will undoubtedly contain spoilers beyond your imagination. :D
