Eureka Seven #34

It’s already been established that Eureka’s piloting skills were vital to the SOF because of her ability to pilot the Nirvash, but this episode emphasizes just how amazing Renton is since, as far as we’ve seen, he’s the only human being capable of piloting the TypeZERO. I’m sure it must have been quite upsetting from Holland’s perspective to find out that some kid from a small town with no former pilot training has the skills to pilot the most ancient LFO known to man, but I give credit to Holland for being able to swallow his pride and accept the fact that Renton has a special ability. Besides, Renton has never worn it on his sleeve nor has he ever acted like a big-shot, so Holland has no reason to doubt his own abilities since he’s an amazing pilot in his own right.

Their current objective is to penetrate the Great Wall, but in order to do that they’ll need Norbu’s assistance, and that is why it is vital that they retrieve Norbu from the Capitol as soon as possible. Holland describes his initial encounter with the high priest during a mission in del Cielo in which their objective had been to eradicate the Vodarek opposition as well as capturing Norbu, and Holland went into it assuming that it would be a cinch for him to capture a harmless priest until he discovers much to his surprise that Norbu is not just any ordinary priest but has extraordinary powers that are far more dangerous than any man-made weaponry. The Vodareks are considered terrorists because they worship the “human-eating monsters” known as Coralians, but Norbu sees them as the “dream the planet is having.” Of course, Holland thinks he’s full of crap until he tells him about his first love, Sakuya, who had also been a human-form Coralian whose existence served as a tool to learn about human beings. Norbu warns Holland that using Eureka for the sole purpose of murdering and destroying life will only lead her as well as this entire world toward obliteration since Dewey is planning on using her to destroy the planet with his second Summer of Love. However, she can be saved if a partner appears in her life who can truly make her smile, and that is probably the initial reason why Holland had invited Renton to join Gekkostate in the first place. Through this partnership, communication between humanity and the Scab Coral can be possible, and the path to the Great Wall can finally be opened, which is the path of hope that will end up saving this world. Renton is even more determined to stay by Eureka’s side, and not for the sake of the world, but because he truly wants to be with her. Moondoggie finally gets to be useful for a change and has the important task of piloting the Gekko Go now that Talho is set to meet up with their informant. Meanwhile, Dewey has successfully captured Norbu and wants his help in destroying the Scab Coral at all costs, but Norbu refuses to help and instead shows him the Compac Drive inside his body as a result of trying to partner up with a Coralian. I can’t wait to watch the next episode to see what’ll happen next.

Woah, another great episode filled with a chock full of surprises! We’ve learned that silverfire is trustworthy after all! :P Talho is indeed pregnant with child, and it couldn’t come at a better time since some good news is needed. I’m just wondering who Talho’s first love could be. I hope it’s not Dewey since that would be a rather disgusting image, but you never know. Also, I don’t understand what Dewey meant when he told Norbu that his body is the result of one who had failed to become a partner with a Coralian. What the heck does that mean? I have an idea, but I doubt it’s that. Also, what does Renton have to do in order to partner up with Eureka? Heh, if it’s what I think it is (which I’m sure it’s not), then they’ll need lots of practice before they can get it right. Haha. ;) All kidding aside, I can’t wait to see the confrontation between Dewey and Holland. I’ve heard rumors about them and it makes sense, but I want to find out for myself if it’s really true. Thank you again Nanashi for your great subs. :mrgreen:

  • i get the hint that dewey wants to be king of all!!no way with the him it will be a dictator for sure.with killing and terror to keep things in line.his own city??what is that about?

  • Hah, if it’s what you think it is then Renton will never become her pair. Renton can’t even kiss the girl right. He’s got a long way to go before he can do anything like that with her. :razz:

    Also, I was under the impression that Talho’s ex was the informant they were going to see, since he would only agree to meet up with her and no one else. I could be wrong, though.

  • I really liked this episode too! It’s about time some backstory was filled in, and in an exciting way too!

  • Amusing note: Moondoggie’s flying on an expired liscence!

  • I’m pretty certain that it’s close to what you think it means. It’s probably wrapped in a metaphor of becoming physically one with one another in a manner similar to how Eureka dissolved into the slab of Scab Coral or whatever it was. But the male psyche doesn’t just work in sexuality in some abstract manner; we’re pretty up front and familiar with it. That Renton has thus not made much progress on the front is likely because, and as much as I’d like to avoid the pun, I cannot, this sort of interpersonal intimacy will likely arrive near the climax (of the show, damnit), rather than any personality traits of Renton’s. It’s quite strange to see someone have to explain to Renton that love is about more than protecting something (its also about more than a bicycle built for two).

    Another question; now that Norbu has revealed the source of his power is a compaq drive lodged within, will Dewey use his jammer to destroy Norbu? Dewey uses many of the gifts of the planet to destroy it; Norbu posses, as we saw, the means of manipulating that base power. On the one hand, the planet is ultimately the source of both their powers, yet Dewey would be unable to complete his goal with Norbu depriving him of the power he despises and equally relies on. Dewey is a very mysterious character, in a bad way. His war with the planet and motivation for intitiating a second summer of love is strange. He’s a sociopath, but fuck if I know why he’s actively seeking to destroy the earth. Did a Coralian woman turn him down for a date? Was he upset that Adrock was elected student body president over him? The world may never know.

  • Got a TV-PG-V.
    Also, I admit that Eureka 7 is actually cool. I’m going to watch it on adult swim on April 16.

  • Sorry guys, I am burned out to the core and I can’t respond to your comments properly at this time. I don’t even have the energy to write my post about Nana. Ugh…I have no energy to do anything except to vegetate in front of the computer. Hopefully I’ll feel better in the morning.

  • -What in the name of grease are you blubbering about this TV-PG-DLS? I wrote TV-PGV on this entry, and wrote TV-PGDS on the previous entry! You’re psyched out, man. You’ve lost your mind. Totally, you’ve lost it. See a therapist about the problem you have with misunderstanding one single concept of the real world. I’m serious.

    Watch Eureka 7 Saturdays at midnighht on Adult Swim, only on Cartoon Network. See you then.

  • toniblab - Yes, Dewey has made it very clear that he wants to reign over all living beings by controlling the way things should be run on this planet. However, if everything dies, who would he be able to dictate? Himself?

    KT - Haha, that’s for sure about Renton. As for Talho, I think you could be right about the informant being her old flame. Now I can’t wait to see who he is. :)

    jldugger - I think the most we’ll be seeing of those two as far as physical intimacy goes is a sweet and tongue-less kiss at the end of the series, which would be a rather disappointing climax, that’s for sure. I’m not sure why Dewey would want to start another summer of love, either. Heh, maybe he’s impotent and trying to make up for it. :P

    Greg - KT was referring to your smiley “comment” and reminding you not to spam. He wasn’t rating my post, btw.

    <rant>
    Ugh… I’m tired, and coffee isn’t helping any. I also have a sinking feeling that I’m going to have to let my boyfriend go so that he could be happy somewhere else. I hate relationships because they always end up bad. :(
    </end rant>

  • wow you are in a big dump kawaii!sick twice in a few weeks!you got to sweet it out if you want to feal better. 3 days 6 hours

  • LOL toniblab, I’m not sick, just tired from doing hard physical labor every day for the past week now. It’s physically and mentally draining, and I’m not used to it. I’m used to walking on the treadmill for an hour everyday - effortless and painless exercise. I finally have a break today, but it’s back to work tomorrow. :???:

  • you should work for a rebar fabucation plant.now that was hard work!

  • Uh, no I shouldn’t. :razz:

  • KAWAII-I seemed to not know that for a wierd reason that I can’t explain.

  • ?????????????????

  • I’ll be reviewing #35 as soon as I find some time. Thanks Guido for your e-mail. :)

  • no 35 to post on yet:sad::sad::!:

  • toniblab - I’m sorry to disappoint you. :cry: I’ve been really busy during the day, and by the time I get home I’m too tired to write. I’ve also been dealing with relationship problems with my boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend - he’s never around anymore, so who knows), and I just haven’t felt like writing unless it’s really easy. Basically, I feel very down right now, and I play my games at night to keep from crying the whole night away.

    I’ll try to make an effort to post #35, though. Maybe it’ll help me take my mind off of things.

  • you got your friends who post on your site.!

  • You’re right, and I am grateful for your friendship. I will make an effort to post #35 just for you.

  • Chill out a little, toniblab. :P Life first, anime second.

    kawaii - I’m not going to butt into you personal life, but I will continue to hope that everything goes favorably, and if not favorably, then that you can find fortune in misfortune. :smile:
