I have been getting this pesky error on IRC for about a week now, and it’s been annoying the heck out of me because I have to manually reconnect every time this happens. Have any of you been encountering this error as well? If so, how does one go about resolving this annoying problem? I’ve run several spyware/malware tests as well as performing weekly virus checks, but it hasn’t detected anything. I even have flood protection checked on my mIRC settings, but nothing seems to resolve the problem. I’ve read some possible suggestions on the mIRC forums, but nothing has been very helpful. If any of you can provide some suggestions on how to resolve/avoid this error, I would be very grateful to you.
I found something helpful at AnimeSuki that specifically addresses your problem, and luckily there’s a solution for it.

Thanks Guido! I tried using an anti-idle script as some of the posters have suggested, but that didn’t work. I don’t know what the problem is, but hopefully it’ll all be resolved soon. Thanks for your help anyway. It’s much appreciated.
…you’re fucked.
LOL, great response. Yeah, you’re really helpful.
yeah i’ve been having the same problem, it’s a winsock error, for some reason only windows has this problem with mirc (go fig.), so you have to extend some values in your network adapter settings.
