We’ve learned in this episode that despite their great efforts, Renton and Eureka were unable prevent the attacks from occurring in Gremcow, and now they’ve been assigned to assess the damage. Since the last attack, the Antibody Coralians have become even quicker and more efficient in destroying entire populations, leaving only the carnage and wreckage behind as a reminder of their deadly existence. Seeing the devastation firsthand proves to be too much for Eureka to handle, and it has only worsened her guilty conscience. Renton doesn’t know how to help her feel any better, so Dr. Bear suggests that he work on creating important memories with her so that she’ll be able to focus on something positive instead. Meanwhile, Talho has had her own share of issues to deal with, and it’s been bothering her to see Holland so tirelessly overseeing everything on the ship without any regard to his own well-being. I have to admit that I never really thought about the sacrifices Holland and Talho had to make in order to keep everyone safe, yet they’ve done it day in and day out without complaining even once. It’s so easy to judge Holland as nothing but an unreasonable tyrant, but I’ve never really taken the time to observe the situation from his point of view, and it’s understandable to see why he has such frequent fits of anger. It’s a huge responsibility knowing that one’s actions and decisions can ultimately be life or death situation to those you care about, and it’s just impossible to maintain a phony optimistic attitude when that’s not how he really feels. Renton didn’t help the situation any when he decided to run away, but I’m glad that he’s at least taking more responsibility for his actions and helping out as much as he can. Talho begins to reminisce about the days when life was so easy and carefree, and the old photos of her and Holland together are proof that they were once a fun-loving couple deeply in love. However, life has hardened both of them, particularly Holland, and he’s gradually become the cold and distant man he is today.

Talho is unusually nice to Renton in this episode, acting more like an older sister would to an impressionable younger brother. Not only does she let him Ref on her long board with Eureka, but she also gives him some advice on love – that protecting someone is just not good enough. He has to prove his love to her, and that starts with creating happy memories with her. She decides to follow her own advice and encourages Holland to take a break from everything to enjoy a day of Reffing, but this proves to be a huge mistake. Not only has he lost his edge on Reffing, but he’s unable to balance himself altogether. She frantically tries to rectify the situation by comforting him, but it only makes him feel even more pathetic about himself. Once known as the King of Reffing and an idol to so many young kids like Renton, it’s no longer a possibility for him to live up to the reputation he’d built so long ago. Although he’s devastated by this realization, he’ll always have a love for it as well as this world that has allowed him to do so, and he can’t stand anyone who wants to destroy it. This gives him a newfound determination to do everything in his power to protect it no matter what. He surprises everyone by announcing that the Gekko Go is disbanding since he’s planning a very dangerous and personal mission in retrieving Norbu, and he doesn’t want anyone to die unnecessarily on his account. However, Eureka 7 wouldn’t be the amazing show that it is without its excellent cast of characters, and it would just ruin the show if they really did go their separate ways. Holland is truly surprised that everybody’s decided not to abandon him even though they’re aware of the risks, and they’re even more determined to do all they can to help him now that he has a definite goal in mind. Holland may no longer be able to Ref, but he should feel good about himself knowing that he’s loved and respected by everyone living on that ship. Life can sometimes create an illusion that we’re all alone in this world, but it’s only an illusion created from our own perceptions. Besides, he has the capability to achieve so much more than just a Reffing title, and saving the world is a much better goal.
On an entirely different note, I have this really strange feeling that Talho isn’t really whom she appears. This is just based on my gut feelings, but I think Talho is really Diane in disguise, and she’s keeping it a secret from everyone including Holland. That could possibly explain why she has her face crossed out on all of her pictures. The reason why I think this is because she always looks out for Renton like an older sibling would, and I don’t think Diane would be the type of person to abandon Holland without saying a word. We know from the first episode that she had set out on her own, so I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that she was Renton’s sister all along. Then again, I’m probably wrong as usual, but you never know.

You guys know that a anemone is a underwater plant that clown fish live in for protection.
Roll them eyes, boy! Roll ‘em ’til they fall out!
*giggle* I love waking up happy in the morning.
so one night i flip the channel to [adult swim], not paying too much attention… n i hear a girl that sounds A LOT like haruko from FLCL, n i look, n shes got pink hair too. she seemed like she had the same crazy personality n the whole show is fast paced like my beloved flcl. dus anyone else see this or am i totally insane!?!?!
ZE - I’m probably the only person in the otaku planet not to have watched FLCL yet, so I don’t really have any say in the matter. I’ll take your word for it, though.
>You guys know that a anemone is a underwater plant that clown fish live in for protection.
Well, actually, the anemone was originally a kind of flower and the sea anemone named for it. It seems that the flower itself has been forgotten to everyone but botanists while the sea anemone has become well-known.
Oh, wow, wonderful pictures! I LOVE EUREKA SEVEN! XDD! What is it with all this talk about Anemone… I hate her >__
good lord, talho and holland GET IT ON!!

Besides, she gets pregnant later on.
Yes they do! Too bad we don’t get to see it in action, though.

I really don’t think that Diane is a Coralian-they showed her face before :idea(she doesn’t have ‘those eyes’), and Iv’e heard that she plays a huge roll in the last two episodes.
euareka seven is my life but iv missed the last 2 months of it and it hurts inside not 2 watch.:cry::evil::arrow::twisted::sad::!::!::cry::cry:
Nice pics they are pretty cool. Have you seen all the episodes of Eureka 7 they have made so far?
how did she know she was pregnate!!!:?::shock:
Excuse me, but i think you left out a few vital bits that happened in the episode…
1) Holland also wants to protect the planet because he met Talho on it.
2) Secondly, they got engadged (looks like it) Since Talho accidently dropped the ring (from episode 5 that holland bought her) and Holland picked it up saying he wanted to “borrow” it, then later on, both of them are seen wearing the ring (split into two) on their ring fingers..
^^ Just wanted to let the people know
how touching… XD
you know… alot of the stuff in Eureka Seven has references to ocean stuff. like Coralian and coral and Anemonie and that anemo-something thing that grows in reefs. i guess its cause of those trapar waves and stuff. weird. (just thoughts)
