I just watched the Portuguese version of Basilisk last night, and I used Babel Fish to translate what was being said in this episode (a brilliant idea, thanks to Ren!). Since it isn’t translated very well, I’ve decided to re-word what was being said as best as I can. It still probably won’t make much sense, but I did the best that I could. Hope this helps some. ![]()
Tenzen: The Kouga and Iga can be compared to the rain that falls. It is not harmonious with the mountain, and perhaps it never was..
Oboro: Tenzen, what was it that you wanted to talk to me about? Tenzen?
Tenzen: I have thought about it, and I must recount what has happened. Oboro-sama, please, listen closely. The peace treaty between the Iga and Kouga was broken by the order of the great shogun Leyasu-sama during the trip to Sunpu.
Oboro: Tenzen… What are you telling me?
Tenzen: In these 400 years of hostility between Iga and Kouga, the peace treaty that has been in place since the Tenshou period was breached. For the leaders, it is of major importance that a decision is taken: “The peace between the two must be annulled”.
Oboro: It is not possible!
Tenzen: A suspicious scroll was shown to them. (Note: I can’t decipher what he’s really saying – here’s what it translates to on Babel Fish: When the suspicion they were finishing, was shown and a scroll to them.)
Oboro: Scroll?
Tenzen: It is necessary for Oboro-sama to also forget about this treaty.
Oboro: This can’t be true! Iga and Kouga are no longer at peace? (Babel Fish translates this segment to “in one dispute”) This did not have to happen! I’m certain that Gennosuke-sama will think the same.
Tenzen: Please wait. Until we know what the Kouga is thinking, you must be protected! (Babel Fish translation – “You must give attention, exactly that the Kouga thinks of this form, this relation you must be locked up!”)
–
Okoi: Good, this blood is different from the one before. I will suck you dry until there is nothing left of you.
Nenki: Rousai, what’s causing the delay in there? Tenzen is waiting for the scroll… What’s this! This is making me unhappy! (Babel fish translation: “Rendered unhappy!” – maybe Tenzen’s unhappy?)
–
Saemon: They arrested a Kouga woman?
Hotarubi: Yes! Okoi, a healthy young woman. Her name was written in the scroll.
Saemon: Scroll…
Hotarubi: Yashamaru-dono still did not see scroll?
Saemon: No… it’s not obvious that I haven’t.
Hotarubi: Yashamaru-dono?
Saemon: Where is this young woman?
–
Nenki: How much time have you spent with this Kouga woman? Huh? What is this? (Babel translation: “It has how much time, hein, Kouga woman? I felt its lack. But already it arrives! Its hour arrived! Huh? What it is this?” – this is the scene where Nenki finds Okoi alone.
Okoi: More… More… And I’ll be able to touch his skin… What?
Nenki: Were you trying to touch me by chance? There is no possibility that you’ll be able to escape me! You thought that that you could kill me? Finally, we’ll be able to take your name off the scroll.
–
Hotarubi: Now that the treaty was finally annulled, there is no reason to save it. (Babel fish translation is really terrible – “Now that the treated one finally was annulled, does not have more because to save it. To come alone until Tsubakagure… a warrior who is not daqui… this woman must very be insolente same. Mr. does not find?”)
Saemon: Okoi… Okoi… (telepathically)
Okoi: Brother… Brother…
Saemon: Okoi.
Nenki: Oh, it’s Yashamaru! When did you come back?
Hotarubi: Nenki-dono.
Nenki: Everyone was worried! Hey, Yashamaru!
Saemon: I was late in coming back… I was really late… I was really late…
Nenki: What’s that, Yashamaru?
Saemon: Hotarubi’s snake… It bit me because it didn’t recognize me.
Nenki: It was trying to put its hand on you that it doesn’t have? Ah yes… I understand. A jo-joke… You must have liked it, huh? I said that was just a joke! (Babel translation – “It walked trying to place the hand where does not have, né? Ah yes… I understood… Ah tri-trick… You must have liked, hein? I said that a trick was alone!”)
Saemon: Okoi. Okoi. Okoi. (telepathically)
Okoi: Brother?
Saemon: Sorry, Okoi… I arrived very late…
Okoi: Brother… I defeated one of them… An old one…
Saemon: Is that so? You’ve gotten stronger, Okoi! (Babel fish translation – “How strengthen! You it obtained, Okoi!”)
Okoi: It had some thing… in a hole… I hid… a parchment…
Saemon: I understand!
Okoi: B-Brother… Broth..er… Broth…er… Broth…er… Broth…er… Brother… Broth…er… (her last words before dying…)
Nenki: Ah! By the way… Yashamaru, what really happened in Sunpu?
Saemon: How about this, I’ll go explain it to Oboro-sama later.
Nenki: What was that creature? Is he still an idiot because of the poison? (Babel translation – “What it was, insect? Still he is idiot because of the poison?”)
Hotarubi: Oboro-sama still is in an important meeting with Tenzen-sama.
Nenki: Tenzen has a plan to convince her to understand some things. The fight between Iga and Kouga is inevitable. Oboro-sama needs to give up being with the Gennosuke.
Saemon: What’s Gennosuke still here for?
Nenki: Clearly that’s it! Tenzen’s certainly going to do something to scare Gennosuke. I do not know that methods he’ll want to use, but in the end, the superiority of us Iga will be evident.
Hotarubi: Is it aching in some place? (to Saemon - or in this case, “Yashamaru”)
Nenki: It is clear that those crossed out on the scroll must have had terrible techniques, such as Kazamachi, Jimushi, and Mudou (don’t remember him). Okoi, though little, was not easy. Tenzen… What is he thinking about doing? Now I remember! I had come here to look for the scroll. (Babel translation – “it is clearly, still has ones in scroll that they must have terrible techniques, as Kazamachi, Jimushi and Mudou, to defeat. Okoi, now little, also was not easy. Tenzen… what it will be that it is thinking about making? Now I remembered! I had come here to look scroll.”)
Jingoro: Nen…Nenki…
Nenki: What you are doing there, Jingoro?
Jingoro: Wat… Water, please!
Nenki: Babel translastion – “It takes! It uses to advantage sufficiently! What I make with this face?” – Don’t know what the heck he’s really saying.
Hotarubi: Rousai-dono! (she finds his lifeless body)
Nenki: What is it, Hotarubi? What’s happened?
Tenzen: Please wait, Oboro-sama!
Oboro: No! I will not excuse! Capturing a woman of the Manji-Valley clan and keeping her imprisoned here? I will not excuse this!
Tenzen: What!? We had to assure that she was alone! When this is finished, we will be united! Oboro-sama! Is that you, Yashamaru?
(Saemon looks into Oboro’s eyes at this point…)
Nenki: What is it now?
Everyone: Yashamaru-dono…
Nenki: Then who is this? Babel fish translation – “Its poor fellow! Then it was this?”
Koshiro: Hime-sama! (Oboro flies in the air, and Koshiro catches her in his arms)
Tenzen: Drug! (Huh? That’s the Babel fish translation…)
Akeginu: Scroll! Jingoro-dono, the parchment!
Jingoro: What? I’ll catch it! What? (He sees Gyoubu catching the scroll instead…)
Akeginu: What is that?
Koshiro: Kasumi Gyoubu
Hotarubi: He is from the Kouga! (Babel fish translation – “he is the man of Kouga! He is the man who the Yashamaru-dono was successful?”)
Tenzen: Don’t let them leave! Follow them!
Nenki: Wait over there!
Tenzen: Koshiro.
Koshiro: Yes?
Tenzen: Gather everyone together. (Babel fish translation – “It congregates all.”)
Gennosuke: Gyoubu… Saemon… Manji-Valley… Let’s leave and come back.

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Remember, this is just a rough translation and won’t be exact. Just wanted to be helpful for those of you who are in the same boat as me.

Haha, gotta love those Babel fish translations. They’re hilarious at points. But it really did help me understand the episode. Thanks for going to all the trouble of posting this.
Ps. I have a friend who called me desperate when I told him what I was doing. I prefer the term “dedicated”, but he disagreed.
Yeah, it had me laughing frequently because they’re so off the wall. No problem, I aim to please.
Nah, you’re not desperate, just dedicated and determined - and very, very smart!
