Note: I’m watching this episode raw without the nifty subtitles to help me understand what’s going on, so I’m most likely going to be mistaken on most things that are happening in this episode. However, I still have the urge to write down my thoughts on what I *think* is happening, so please keep that in mind. Lots of screenshots this time, so please enjoy. ![]()

Gennosuke has some time alone to himself now that Oboro is away at a meeting with Tenzen, and he thinks back to the time when they both performed the flute song and dance together. I think he’s starting to realize that those days of peace have all but vanished, and now they’re back to square one where Iga and Kouga are at war once again. Meanwhile, Tenzen continues to explain the current situation between Iga and Kouga to Oboro, but from the looks of it, she refuses to believe what she’s hearing and steps out of the room, but not before hearing something that causes her to react in such disbelief and shock. I’m guessing that it has a lot to do with the fact that she’s been duped by her own men all this time, and now that the peace treaty is broken, they probably either want permission to do away with Gennosuke, or they want her to assist in helping them… From the looks of it, he might’ve also informed her of Okoi’s capture, and that could be the reason why she heads straight toward the salt shed.
Okoi continues sucking and draining Jingoro’s blood, but he cleverly crawls his way toward the salt and begins to shrivel into slime, enabling him to escape from Okoi before it’s too late for him to do so. She attempts to escape the salt shed herself, but Nenki walks in and immediately begins defending himself against her oncoming attacks. Since she’s practically naked, he grabs her from behind and squeezes her large breast, and she utilizes the opportunity to drain his blood as well. However, he’s not an easily beatable opponent and kills her with his multiple spikes (or his hair – I can’t tell since I’m unable to understand what he’s saying!) throughout her body.
Now that Saemon (sorry for screwing up his name!) has Hotarubi’s trust, he’s able to walk around freely without being detected. He’s still able to communicate telepathically with Okoi and walks toward where she’s located, but he’s absolutely devastated to find her nearly dead in the salt shed. Since he’s still disguised as Yashamaru, he knows better than to show his true emotions, but I’m almost certain that he’s full of hatred and rage, and wishes nothing more than to kill these repulsive people off right then and there. Instead, he sits down next to Okoi, confusing both Nenki and Hotarubi by his strange actions. They’re both probably thinking, “Why is he so concerned about the death of a Kouga?” It’s such a bittersweet moment between Saemon and Okoi as he lovingly embraces her hand during her last breaths with tears falling from her eyes as she whispers “Brother…” before letting go of his hand. While Nenki and Hotarubi continue yapping about something (my ignorance is showing here – my apologies for not being able to translate), Saemon is able to find the scroll that Okoi had hidden without being detected by either of them. Saemon has a satisfied look on his face when the two discover Rousai’s dead body, but he doesn’t expect to run into Oboro, whose eyes are able to disrupt techniques, and disappointingly returns to his original self. The person most horrified by this is Hotarubi, understandably. Nenki immediately tries attacking him, but Saemon throws a fistful of sand in his eyes, causing him to cover his face instead. Gyoubu reveals himself, leading the entire village chasing after him toward the direction of his leader, and he hands the scroll over to Gennosuke just in time for the villagers of Iga to notice that Gennosuke, once offering his token of friendship, is now a threateningly dangerous and hostile enemy…
Oh, I can’t wait to watch the raw of the next episode! Although I can’t understand the dialogue, it’s still pretty easy to follow the storyline with just watching the animation alone. I wonder what’s going to happen between Gennosuke and Oboro now that they’re both aware of the broken Peace Treaty. Although I’m not a big fan of Oboro, I still like the idea of her and Gennosuke together. Basically, I just like the idea of someone loving you so much that they’d be willing to give everything of themselves to you.

I was so desperate to watch this ep that I downloaded a portugese fansub and used babelfish to translate the subtitles lol :S. and from what I watched (as the babelfish isn’t perfect) your synopsis is pretty much spot on.
could be better but how can some one download
LOL Ren. Desperate times call for desperate measures. This is actually the first anime where I’ve resorted to downloading the raws and watching them. I’m so obsessed with this series. Cheers for the synopsis of the episode.
By the way, if any of you guys are interested in reading the manga, its up on tokyotosho. However it’s also in raw so
Translated versions are being scanslated by ‘mangass’ but they’re going slower than the actual anime.
Hahaha, Ren, the babelfish technique is awesome! I’ve yet to stoop that far, but I’m downloading the raw right now, because I want to see this episode.
Meh, I’m too lazy for all that sh*t.
Ren - That’s a brilliant idea! I never even thought of doing that, but perhaps I’ll try that route with ep #9.
ricenoodles - I’m obsessed with this show as well! Can’t wait to see what’ll happen next.
KT - LOL, you’re too funny.
omg I just downloaded and watched the raw for ep 9 and WOW. Gennosuke is so freakishly powerful. Looking forward to your review on it kawaii
The anticipation is killing me! I haven’t even downloaded it yet, so I’m eagerly waiting to watch it now. I better get to sleep since it’s already 2:36 a.m. here, so goodnight.
Ep. 9 is some good stuff. Raises some questions that I want answers to NOW! haha
I’m getting eps 9 and & 10 raw now. I hattttte watching raws cuz I hate not knowing what they’re saying. but I MUST watch more Basilisk
OMG~! Can someone tell me where to download these raw now? Hearing you all talk about it make me green with envy till i can almost S##t myself~ Wats going to happen on ep.9, how strong is Gennosuke, Did the rest of the other ninja come or did they run? Argghh all the suspense can kill some1! Btw, has anyone heard of shadow sub, heard there is a rumour they create the eng-sub for basilisk. A fren and i have been trying to located their site, if anyone has any luck, please share. Thanks. Ps - i still would the like website to dl the raw. tq
Shitto - check tokyotosho
Hephador - Yeah, I’m still watching ep #9 and trying to guess what they’re saying…lol. It’s so frustrating not being able to understand.
Ren - I know, I hate having to watching the raws and not being able to understand, either! But yes, I must watch more Basilisk.
BTW Ren, I just watched the Portuguese version of ep #8 and I wrote down the translation. It’s a crappy translation since Babel Fish doesn’t exactly word it correctly, but it helped me understand a lot. Anyone care for me to post it, even though it sucks?
Shitto - Follow the link in my chatterbox. You’ll find the raws there.
Yeah post it!! Ps, I have screencaps from ep 9 up at my blog
super tq,
didnt notice that small chatterbox. the site is super~
tq tq tq tq
hmm…downloaded something titled as Ep 10 Tuesday night and it’s the typical recap episode. Wish I knew what the goiter shogun and Hanzo were saying at the end though. Hopefully it’ll kind of be like what AMG tv did and the recap ep aired seperately from the week’s new ep.
ROFL @ goiter shogun!
Ren - It’s posted! It probably won’t make much sense, though…lol.
Hephador - Yeah, I downloaded it last night but didn’t get a chance to watch it yet b/c I was trying to decipher that Babel Fish babble, and I was also catching up on some Naruto manga…lol. Hmmm…goiter shogun is an interesting description.
I, too, love the anime Basilisk and check the tokyotosho site everyday, actually a few times a day to see if there’s any new eps postings, etc. Although there is a manga link at tokyotosho but it’s not working so could someone give me the correct link or site where I could download the manga or send the downloaded manga to me please. Pretty please. Even if it’s written in Jap, I don’t care because I can still look at the pic to decipher what’s going on. I’m a Basilisk fanatic so I’ll get my hands on whatever it’s available.
Thanks for the translation work Ren, hope you could translante more eps. Now could you direct me to the page where you’ve posted the translations.
brainyscholar - I’ve also been checking on Tokyo Toshokan at least twice a day to see if the Brazillian subs have released ep #09. Have you searched on Google for the untranslated manga volumes? Maybe you could find the corrent link to the torrent there.
Oh, and if you’d like to thank Ren, please visit her wonderful site at http://asakomi.animeblogger.net/. I’m sure she’d love to receive feedback there as well. She gave me the brilliant idea of translating the Portuguese text to English using Babel Fish, and I’ve written down the translations here:
http://myillusion.net/itsumo/?p=229
Thanks Kawaii. I just clicked on her site and noticed she already had eps 10 up so I’m going to check things out. I searched the web many times to find the manga volumes (translated or not I don’t care) but no such luck I couldn’t find a site that has all volumes available for download. I’m a big fan of spoilers so I don’t mind reading the manga prior to finishing the show. If anyone has any idea of where to find manga download please let me know. I have a few questions regarding the series and if someone already read the manga could you provide answers to these questions.
Possible spoilers ahead so please beware.

Who kills Oboro at the end? Does Gennosuke find out she’s blind before seeing her again? Does he ever sees her during her blindness? Does he truly love her? I hope their romance is for real and not some kind of truce package to bring an end to the family feud.
(edited your comment a bit to clarify the spoiler alert, brainyscholar - kawaii)
Someone has subbed episode 8. It’s at tokyotosho right now. I’m DLing it as I type. I hope it’s good quality.
Yeah, I just noticed it at baka-updates and immediately began downloading it myself. Can’t wait to watch it.
Omg how awesome!! I hope they continue with the rest of the series.
I watched it this morning as soon as I woke up, and it absolutely made my day so much better. Heh, their subs were so much better than my crappy attempt at translating the ep!
i saw it for 20:grin:,it’s translate in Arabic and 21-22 is not translate ,it’s by Japanies ,but also i understand it alittle pit:wink:..I didn’t found 23 , did anyone can tell me where i can found it ..???
thanx:razz:
if u want me to explain any things u didn’t understand from 1-20 I’m ready ..
are the RAW episodes still available? i am having trouble finding a torrent that distinguishes itself as “not subbed”. i want to make an AMV but would rather not have random text at the bottom
