When there’s nothing to do in the bathroom except to wait, and wait, and wait for things to happen (I won’t go into detail), you need something to do. You know I’m right. One of the most boring non-activities in life is to be sitting on the toilet with absolutely nothing to look at. So…back in February I decided to open up my January issue of Shojo Beat and began reading this familiar titled called Honey and Clover. I was skeptical about it because I found the anime to be incredibly silly [based only on the first two episodes]. It seemed pointless and lacked the seriousness that I like to see in shoujo. However, as I kept reading, I discovered that beneath the silliness lied a very deep and rich story of complex characters that were going through exactly what I’ve been going through this past year…and from that point on, I’ve been hooked. In fact, it’s become my favorite material to read. I love it. I can’t get enough of it. From unrequited love to lost love…I’m so in love with it. I can relate to it on soo many levels. There was a certain chapter that made me cry and cry and cry…when Ayu was drunk and revealed her feelings to you-know-who as her tears came pouring out…oh man. Priceless. Tears wouldn’t stop flowing from my eyes. I’ve been there. I know how it feels.
Now I can’t wait to watch the anime and relive it.
Oh, and another thing: I am now a co-blogger at Natsukashii if you haven’t already noticed. Thanks again, Os, for the invite.
