Holy…Have you been reading Vampire Knight?

This post has been brought to you by a bout of procrastination from Yours Truly as well as an inability to contain the surprise and shock from reading Volume 07, Chapter 35-36 of this wondrous manga. If you haven’t read this far, DO NOT continue reading this post. It will undoubtedly contain spoilers beyond your imagination. :D

Learning AJAX, Photoshop, Illustrator, and visiting EA Games

I just wanted to send a quick note out to those reading this blog that classes will begin again next week, so I probably won’t be able to blog regularly again until the semester is over. I will try to post once or twice every month, but there are no guarantees since I’ll be taking more classes than I can handle (18 units to be exact). On the plus side, I’ll finally be taking some intermediate web and graphic designing classes, so it should be fun. The downside will obviously be the heavy homework load and a very lousy schedule that involves staying at school for eight long hours. It’ll be a full-time commitment, but I want to pay my dues now so that I’ll be able to get a nice job in the future.

Also, I wanted to share this job link with all of you. It looks like those of us in our curriculum are heading in the right field. :)

NANA #47 (End of first season)

I know that Nana means well, but she seriously needs to stop reminding Nobu about what he obviously can’t have. Why keep reminding the guy about it when all he wants to do is move on?! Does she want him to live the rest of his life hoping and waiting for something that obviously was never really his in the first place? I think he truly needs to tell her to knock it off permanently because she really isn’t helping him any. All she’s really accomplishing is annoying the hell out of him.

Macross Frontier #01

<

I have to admit that I’m not entirely familiar with any of the Macross series enough to form any sort of valid opinion on whether I like it or not, but I did find this particular episode enjoyable. Of course, you’d have to bypass the obvious fanservice, the useless damsel in distress, and the pretty boy bishounen who inevitably ends up saving the day in order to get to the juicy parts of the action. This introductory episode has the typical antics of most ‘first episodes’ – all major characters are introduced, the world is in utter chaos with Eva-like Angels threatening to destroy humankind, and the lone hero is the only human being on the planet capable of saving the world from its demise. The areal footage of the battle scenes are particularly spectacular to watch, and even better in surround sound. I wish we could’ve seen more of that and less of Sheryl’s less than stellar performance, though. From the looks of it, she appears to be pretty callous and uncompassionate, two qualities I don’t particularly like in any personality. I bet (and I hope) something will happen to her that will get rid of that righteous attitude of hers, but it doesn’t look like that’ll be happening anytime soon. I can’t determine from this episode alone how good its future episodes will be, but for now it does look promising. Definitely better than the other 99% of shows that I haven’t been watching.

NANA #46

There are certain pivotal scenes from the manga that I’ve looked forward to watching in the anime, and this was definitely one of them. I’ve actually been waiting since the beginning of this series to watch Hachi’s reunion with Shoji, and I’m happy that this episode didn’t disappoint in the least. For one thing, I’m really glad that Shoji didn’t act like everything was fine between the two of them. In fact, I would even say that their abrupt departure bothered him almost as much as it bothered her. Even though he was the one who had caused it, it was obvious that he still felt bad about hurting her. I can’t say that I’ll ever condone his infidelity, but I can’t really blame him for looking elsewhere, either. If you recall, that was the time she started looking for her own apartment and met up with Nana. I think the breakup was mostly due to misunderstanding from both parties and their inability to support each other emotionally. In any case, it was nice to see him finally apologizing to her even if it was late. If they had gotten together now, perhaps it could’ve worked. One thing is for sure, though. If it hadn’t been for Takumi, Hachi never would’ve grown to be the person she is today.

Speaking of Takumi, I can appreciate his dedication to his work, but I really think that he needs to learn to relax a little. Does he not realize that his band caters to a mostly younger female audience? He takes it so seriously. Like Reira said, it isn’t just about their music. Girls, especially, are extremely possessive when it comes to their favorite musicians. Not only is it sacrilegious to get married, but it could also mean a huge loss in sales due to fan disinterest. Disappoint your fans, and people will start moving onto something better. I think even Takumi mentioned once to Hachi that he wanted to cut his hair, but his fans wouldn’t have been happy if he did. It’s kind of silly that something as trivial as that would be of any concern to the fans, but then again it’s their hard earned cash that pays the bills at the end of the day. Not that it should be anyone’s business what they do outside of their music, but people are nosy and possessive and feel that every aspect of their lives are open to public scrutiny.
