NANA #40

Yeah, this episode pretty much confirms the fact that Takumi really is a scumbag. Just how many partners does he have? I find it a little strange that his band mates are completely aware of his infidelity yet are reacting like it isn’t a big deal. As long as it isn’t happening to them, it’s okay if somebody else gets hurt, right? Who cares about other people’s feelings? Reira of all people even jokes about it, which I find just a bit a too disturbing. Why does she think it’s completely okay to joke about it when she herself is in love with him? How does she feel about the fact that he’ll never have feelings for her? Will she laugh about that? Even Naoki thinks it’s cool that Takumi’s a breeding ground for women around the world. Something is definitely wrong with these people if they think it’s all right to cheat and lie just as long as you don’t get caught. They pretty much all deserve whatever punishment they get in life.

Wordpress 2.2 – Upgrading Issues

It always takes me roughly around two hours to upgrade Wordpress and having to work around the kinks that come with it. While I enjoy the thrill of upgrading and seeing the new features that each version may offer, it also reminds me of why I’ll never become a rich computer programmer: I just don’t have the patience. Even a simple Wordpress upgrade is enough to leave me very frustrated. Anyway, if you ever encounter problems from this upgrade (which I’m sure you will), don’t make the same mistake that I have. You will most likely have errors on your Dashboard page with the following:

Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/index-extra.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It’s highly frustrating having to encounter any error, but that’s why I love reading the Wordpress support forums – people there are usually very helpful and try their best to provide answers to confused users such as myself. To resolve this problem, you will have to add some text to your .htaccess file with the following:

<Files index-extra.php>
SecFilterInheritance Off
</Files>

It worked like a charm with everything left intact. Do not add anything else that was suggested on the forums – otherwise, you won’t be allowed to login to your account. Everything is fine now, but boy did that give me quite a scare. Hopefully this will be helpful to some of you. If you’re wondering where I got this info from, look here. Geniuses, I tell you.

NANA #39

I didn’t particularly find this episode positive, but at least we aren’t compelled to waste another twenty four minutes having to endure Hachi’s excuses as to why she hasn’t left Takumi yet. On the phone with Junko she acknowledges that she stupidly falls for selfish losers like Takumi and what’s his face but doesn’t know why. It’s never dawned on her that perhaps she’s never felt like she deserves the love and happiness from a genuinely caring man like Shouji or Nobu. Life gives you EXACTLY what you ask for, and everything that’s happened to her is because of her own self-centered wishes in life.

NANA #38

There are many episodes that leave me feeling hopeless, but this one surprisingly ends on a somewhat pleasant note. That’s not to say that it didn’t include its usual share of emotional angst, but at least we’re left with something semi-positive to savor until the next miserable episode comes along. I’m a hopeful romantic, and I believe that we’ll eventually be blessed with the ending that we, and especially Hachi, truly deserve. In any case, I just knew that she wouldn’t completely let us down, and I’m so glad that she isn’t entirely complacent with the situation she’s gotten herself into. I just hope she realizes that her ideal life with Nobu will only become a reality if (and when) she decides on having some courage and not allowing her dreams to shatter before her very eyes.
