Yes! I finally got BSplayer to display subtitles!

You have no idea how long I’ve been struggling to get the damn subtitles to work in BSPlayer. I could’ve easily used other (and probably better) programs to watch those stubborn MKV files with Media Player Classic and Zoom Player, but neither are very good for taking screenshots. Last night I was elated upon discovering that I’d be able to take my screenshots with Zoom Player along with fully enabled subtitles, but this morning I woke up and found that all of them were completely blank. WTF?? I stayed up till 5 a.m. for that crap to happen? Needless to say, it’s been a general pain in the ass trying to get the subtitles work in fucking BSPlayer, but at least it finally works now after having uninstalled ALL of my previous codecs and installing the newest version of CCCP. Thankfully, there are people in this world who actually know what they’re doing as opposed to a clueless end user like me, so I’m glad they’re around to help us out. Anyway, if any of you are encountering similar problems, hopefully this may be helpful to you as well. Or maybe I’m the only clueless person around…

Lovely Complex #02

Okay, I’ve had a chance to read up to three volumes of this manga, and I have to say that this anime just blows in comparison to its paper counterpart. The first half at least is a huge disappointment because I was expecting to see certain scenes that weren’t even mentioned in dialog. Why even bother having an anime at all if all the good parts are snipped away?! Well, blogging this will at least provide me with an opportunity to share the much-needed scenes that were omitted from this otherwise intriguing storyline. All right, maybe they’re strapped for time, but at least include the material that people want to watch, you know?

Lovely Complex #01

I have to admit that I didn’t even know about this shoujo manga’s existence until I read about its upcoming anime debut a couple of months ago. Remember, this is coming from someone who only learned about popular titles such as Crimson Hero and Vampire Knight from Shojo Beat. Call me a noob, and you’d probably be right. In any case, I’m the type of person who likes to know a little about the storyline before embarking upon writing about it, so I downloaded its manga counterpart and read at least the first couple of chapters to get a feel if I would enjoy the story. Reading the synopsis did make me question whether it would be a little too silly for my tastes, but surprisingly it isn’t that bad once you get into it. At least, it provides a lot of laughs, and God only knows that I need some happiness in my life right now.

Thoughts on Romeo x Juliet…and behind as usual

I’m sure you’ve already had the chance to read some really good opinions of this show and digest the wisdom that has come forth from such reviews. Well, I’m here to write a really crappy one since I haven’t really had the enthusiasm to invest much of my time writing up a really good post. The recent croppings of new anime has been an inspiration to many and I’m very happy for these bloggers, but I still haven’t watched an anime that I must blog at this moment. I’m kind of liking this Japanese version of this Shakespeare classic though, so it’s something that I might enjoy blogging if the remaining episodes live up to my standards. I just can’t stand watching an anime that’s hyped up so much that it ends up disappointing people by a combination of poor quality of writing and a lack of creativity. I just hope that this doesn’t turn out to have the same tragic conclusion as its original story is based on and instead offers something a little different…

Hitsuji no Uta #01 (OVA)

If you’re interested in watching yet another show about vampire lore, I would suggest that you check out this title. It’s a short four-part OVA about a quiet yet mysterious boy named Kazuna Takashiro who finds out about the secret behind his rare family bloodline from an unlikely source, and if I haven’t yet convinced you to watch this short OVA I hope that this description will. I watched the first episode yesterday with high expectations for a captivating story, and I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. Well, aside from a certain scene that I felt was overused just a little too frequently (Kazuna’s spasms for example), the animation was pleasantly clear and crisp, and I like the fact that the monochrome colors were used to emphasize the vividness of the oozing fresh blood that we’ll surely be seeing more often in the episodes that follow. Be forewarned that it’s a very slow-paced story with little if any action, so don’t expect it to progress quickly.
