NANA #25

I’m kind of ashamed to admit that I may have been just a little too harsh toward our beloved Hachi in the past. What I’ve failed to realize is that she’s merely trying her best to find some balance and happiness in her life, and who are we to judge? While it’s true that her choices haven’t been the brightest decisions in the world, it’s really her lesson to figure out what’s best for her. Life is all about trial and error anyway, isn’t it?

NANA #24

When I first heard about this animated version of NANA, I immediately thought about this part of the arc and my eagerness in blogging it had provided me with something to look forward to in the coming months. However, now that it’s finally here, I’m a little surprised and even disappointed by my indifference to it. If I hadn’t read the manga, I probably would’ve been predicting my thoughts on the outcome of this quandary right about now. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and I am left to revive these painful emotions once again. If you can watch this show and remain happy, I commend you for your perseverance. Seriously.

NANA #23

How does one watch this show and remain sane knowing that there are so many jerks like Takumi in this world just waiting to exploit the innocent? Then again, it shouldn’t concern me whether other women are being taken advantage of since it’s their choice after all. So, why in the world should I care about what happens to Hachi when she isn’t even all that interesting? What makes her so special? Have I become so bored with my own life that I’ve placed more value on her happiness over mine? Oh, how sad indeed…

NANA #22

This show is just too depressing to watch sometimes because it makes me sad that some people have to pretend to be happy when they’re really crying inside. Hachi’s hoping that Takumi would miraculously become her Prince Charming, but I don’t see how she alone could expect to change his behavior in one night. It drives me absolutely nuts that she’s always hiding behind that fake plastic smile of hers and pretending that everything is okay when it’s obviously not. It’s very frustrating having to watch her endure this pain by herself because it isn’t necessary. Unlike some people, she actually has friends who care about her and want to see her happy, so I don’t see why she refuses to accept their help and support when it’s right there for her. If she only knew how lucky she was, she wouldn’t feel so alone…

NANA #21

Watching this show is like a trip back to memory lane with some of these characters, and it’s given me a second chance to analyze some of their choices more carefully than I did back then when I had first read the manga. For example, Takumi never once hid the fact that he cared about other people; in fact, he warned Hachi during their very first date (in the car, in fact) that he wasn’t a very caring man at all. However, she was so infatuated with him at the time that she didn’t even hear a word he was saying to her, which is unfortunate…and she wonders how she ever got into this mess.
