Dominic decides to retrieve Anemone on his own, but he runs into Renton and Eureka and also has to deal with Anemone’s tantrum as well. Eureka’s also writhing in pain, but she’s not one to complain and deals with it in her usual silence. Dominic has no other choice but to look for Anemone’s medicine in order to make her sane again, while Renton uses his mischievously gutsy tactics to get his way with Dominic. As they’re driving past the dilapidated city streets toward the nearest hospital, Renton is shocked to see that numerous people have gone missing due to the destructive weather caused by the Corelian. Not surprisingly, the people remaining have blamed all of their misfortunes on the military, and poor Dominic is thrust into a mob of angry citizens as he listens impatiently to their dire situation. Thanks to Renton, they’re able to escape from the mob with just a few bruises and black eyes.
Renton discovers just how powerful the Amida Drive is when he vows to protect Eureka at all costs, and it triggers the Nirvash to come alive as it creates a protective sphere that shields them from a slew of hostile gunfire. Renton is amazed by the Nirvash’s desire to protect Eureka, but even more so that it shares his love and desire to protect her as well. Dominic is clearly impressed by the Nirvash’s power, and he acknowledges that he may very well have met his true enemy. It’s just a shame that they’re on opposing sides since they had worked so well together.
I really enjoyed watching this episode because it was nice to see Renton courageous for a change, but unfortunately I don’t think this rare act of courage will last. I know that I’ve skimmed a lot on my summary, but I didn’t really feel like rehashing the entire show since many of you have probably already watched this episode. On another note, I received a comment last night regarding Nanashi-Fansubs’ status on subbing Eureka 7, and the controversy began with this comment. I really do hope that they’ll continue to sub future episodes instead of dropping it altogether, but I can understand if they decide to call it quits. I’ve really enjoyed watching their subs, and I’m probably one of the only few people who don’t mind waiting for their releases. My updates between posts are slow as well, and I would sure hate to be pressured into posting more frequently when I really don’t have the time to do so. If anyone from N-F is reading this, please know that I’ve appreciated all of the subs you’ve completed so far, and I will support your decision no matter what it may be. Thanks for all of your hard work.
Edit: They have no plans on dropping E7 any time soon. Yay!
One aspect that I really like about this show is that it’s simply hilarious. I’m not sure if Shinku’s meant to be a funny character, but she makes me laugh simply because she is so bossy and demanding even though she’s just a tiny porcelain doll. So far, she’s been able to brainwash two human beings more than twice her size into becoming her personal servants, and now she even has a doll of her own to become her little slave. She tries to set boundaries for Hina-chan on where she’s allowed to set foot in Jun’s room, but he puts his foot down and reminds Shinku that it’s his room. Does she care? She still thinks of him as her personal servant and treats him as such. Hilarious!
Nori has to cook for the both of them now that Hina-chan is established as Shinku’s servant, but Hina-chan doesn’t like her food and attempts to draw her favorite dish which she describes as something white, sweet, and very unyu. Unfortunately, nobody but her can make out her drawings, and the only person able to understand her, Tomoe-chan, is now gone from her life. She’s left to live with these clueless people who don’t even try to understand her, and it has once again made her feel lonely and isolated. What she doesn’t realize is that she does have someone who understands her. Jun makes the incredible effort of going outside to buy Hina-chan her favorite food and risking being seen by his former classmates in his recent disheveled form, but he feels bad for her and understands her loneliness and isolation of being misunderstood by everyone around him.
While Nori’s away at school thinking about Hina-chan’s request and Jun’s out buying her favorite dish, Shinku gives her a tour of the house and takes her to a special room, but she doesn’t know that it’s the bathroom and gets embarrassed when Hina-chan tells her what it really is. Meanwhile, an evil doll known as Suigin Tou has entered the house through the mirror, and she makes herself known by her ominous black feathers. Shinku’s hunch was correct about her nemesis, as she was the one controlling the evil clown to kill Jun from the first episode. Finally, we meet someone more powerful than Shinku, and it’ll be interesting to see how this catfight will play out in future episodes. It’s apparent from this episode that although Shinku is bossy and quite snotty, she also has a heart that cares about other living beings though she doesn’t like to show it.
It’s so cute to watch Hina-chan’s entire demeanor change when she sees that Jun’s brought her favorite food, strawberry rice cake, home to surprise her, and it makes her so happy that she even pours tea for him and gives him a huge embrace now that she likes him. It’s really nice to see happy characters for a change, and it makes me feel good about the world after watching this episode.

…due to the chaotic schedule of the approaching holiday season and getting ready for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, I’ll be extremely busy helping my mom around the house. Unfortunately, I won’t have enough time to get around to blogging very often, so updates to this blog will be veeery slow – even slower than it already is on a normal basis. Thanks for your understanding, and have a great holiday season.
How nice would it be to be to be able to send someone to Hell with just a simple click of the button? The consequences would be dire, but I feel that most of us are living in our own private Hell anyway, so it wouldn’t be much of a change in scenery after we die. Then again, I really don’t know what Hell is like, and I don’t particularly want to find out any time soon. In this episode, a girl named Ryouko is haunted by a stalker who leaves her the same spooky message over the phone: “Lost, lost little kitty, where do you stay?” Desperate to get this despicable man from stalking her any further, she types in his name (only known to her as Stalker) on the Jigoku Shoujo web site, and later receives a call confirming her request. Little does she know that the stalker is really an investigator named Akimoto, an influential member of the police force who’s been working on finding her stalker for over a year. She meets Enma Ai and explains her situation to her and her team, but Ryouko finds out that it’s not as simple as it appears – not only will her stalker go to Hell, but so will she as a consequence for using their services. Is it worth the price of going to Hell for eternity?
Her dad finds out a little too late that he’s been duped into believing that the stalker was Inspector Akimoto when it was really Inspector Kisaragi, and now he has Ryouko all to himself. He tries to convince her that he’s proven his love for her with his gifts and obsessive love messages, but he’s a complete whackjob who tries to bash her head in with a shovel after being rejected by her until she decides at the last minute to pull on the red string from the voodoo doll. This allows Ryouko to escape to safety while Kisaragi’s sent on a wild journey toward his impending death and finally eternal damnation. Ryouko’s life is back to normal now that Kisaragi is no longer around to cause any additional misery, but she’ll forever be haunted by the realization that she’ll never be able to escape her unfortunate fate of damnation herself. On one hand, I enjoy watching this show because I like the idea of having the ability to punish those who’ve hurt others, but I don’t like the fact that the victims are destined to end up in Hell as well. It’s such a tragic fate and one that I would never risk myself.
This episode was a bit tricky to blog for me, so I tried my best to explain what I thought was happening. I’m sure I’ve misinterpreted a lot of it, so please bare with me. Thanks!
Continuing from the last episode, Renton’s writhing in pain as Anemone tries to kill them off with her Vascud Crisis, but Renton’s call for his sister’s help causes something to stir within the Amita Drive, permeating the ship with white sparkles. He’s knocked unconscious as they’re moving farther inside the Corelian along with theEND, and he immediately enters his wacky dream world in which he’s back in school. However, he’s horrified when he sees that his classmates have all been burnt to a charcoaled crisp, and even worse when he sees himself burnt as well. It makes him wonder what the heck is going on? Meanwhile, the Gekko Go’s had to deal with their own share of problems with the military, and it’s interesting when both parties decide to fire their missiles simultaneously at each other.
A giant Renton is looking down at the miniature version of himself running away from the huge black void that’s been consuming everything in its path, and he thinks he’s safe in the bathroom until he opens the stall door only to find himself a mere step away from potential death. Despite his best efforts to keep himself from falling, he’s abruptly pushed down the black void and into the giant toilet, falling deeper and deeper in the pool of water. Eureka’s in his dream as well, but she’s busy retracing his steps and trying to find him. Renton has finally gotten himself out of the water, but now he sees a naked Anemone huddled inside a refrigerator. He has no idea who she is, and he knows for sure that he doesn’t want to know her after she tries to eat him. Luckily, Eureka’s there to save him from being consumed by the psycho-bitch. They return to consciousness together, and it’s such a touching scene to see them holding hands.
I definitely enjoyed watching this trippy episode, and I love the fact that it left me hanging every step of the way. I’m still not exactly sure what was really happening in the episode, but I’m guessing that they were either tapping into each other’s consciousness once inside the Corelian, or perhaps Anemone’s Vascud Crisis had somehow backfired on herself as they were being consumed by the Corelian, and that’s why she was knocked unconscious and in a dream state as well. In any case, this was a great episode and definitely my favorite so far.
