Thank you so much for providing such a consice review of this manga, Rove. :)

Hmmm, Lorenzo's true identity was quite a surprise to me, but a nice one since I'm interested in the lore. I have to agree that the dialogue wasn't all that great, though. You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed reading them. :)

I really liked this short story. However what fascinated me the most was the attention to detail, especially in backgrounds, furniture and actual Italian locations, it does show that the authors are from Italy and made sure to get every little detail right for their creation. I also loved the winks at fashion and hair style from the 50's to the 70's, as well as the distinctive character designs. And what's rare, the characters had proportioned heads and bodies unlike almost all other 'manga-influenced comics'.

Another thing that worked very well through out the story was that the art was consistant (I had no problem adjusting to it) and its fine balance between Italian comics and 60's shoujo manga panelling. It shows that Vanna Vinci borrowed ideas from Moto Hagio, Ryoko Ikeda and other mangakas from the 'group of the 24'. Even the atmosphere is reminiscent of manga from that time.

Now onto the less-than-stellar aspects, mainly, the actual mystery. Although it was interesting to see the story unfold, it was pretty easy to suspect how things would end, along with Lorenzo's true identity. The other aspect was the dialogue, which sometimes felt forced and fake, (I'm not accusing the translators here), perhaps the original had the same problems.

Overall, an very entertaining read. The artwork was unique and at the same time evocative, unfortunately the script and plot twists were not that surprising.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read it Maya, I really appreciate it. ^_^

toniblab - Yes, it's very easy to spend all of your hard-earned cash on manga. Once I get that nice job, I too will be able to splurge.

I also enjoy short and sweet manga titles, but I also find joy in reading long and winding titles as well. :)
