Naruto #109

Sasuke’s never going to have feelings for Sakura her no matter how much she begs for it, and it’s definitely apparent in this episode. She finally tells him that she loves him, but he responds by telling her that she’s still annoying. I doubt that she’ll ever heal from her broken heart, but he’s way past dealing with her now that he’s chosen revenge as his path toward ultimate power. I can’t say that I’ve ever liked Sakura, but I actually felt very sorry for her after all that she had done for him. I just don’t understand how she could continually love someone who has always treated her like a second-class citizen. Who knows, maybe she really does enjoy being tortured by Sasuke every time she offers her heart to him. Is he really worth it? If I were her, I would just forget about him and choose a much better guy. Come on, Sakura, what are you waiting for? Just give someone else a chance to show you how it really feels to be loved. What’s wrong with that?

I can’t wait to see the next episode, as we’ll finally get to see our boys in action. Now that Sasuke’s chosen to leave Konoha behind, I’m curious to see how strong he’ll actually become. Let’s just hope the animation will be top-notch for the upcoming episodes. :)

Naruto #98

Tsunade finally returns to Konoha as the new Hokage, and she begins her first day restoring Sasuke and Kakashi back to health. While she’s able to help those two get back on their feet, she examines Lee and doesn’t even bother to sugarcoat the fact that he’ll never be a shinobi again unless he agrees to undergo surgery, which would only guarantee a fifty-percent chance of success and a risk of death as well. Lee understandably walks away in silence after hearing the devastating news, and Gai lectures Tsunade on her lack of sympathy. She tells him that it’s better for him to know the truth now than prolonging the agony of waiting. Meanwhile, Konohomaru still doesn’t want to accept the fact that he’ll never see his grandpa again, and he’s even more upset that a new Hokage has replaced his grandpa so quickly. He even tells Naruto that he’s lying about Tsunade being the new Hokage. This episode was hilarious, but it also provided its share of heartache as well. Definitely ranks as one of the better episodes. :)

Naruto #90

Tsunade Boing, boing...
Jiraiya's not kidding around in this episode. Neither is Tsunade.
Naruto's even pissed off. Tsunade warns Naruto that she can easily send him flying with one finger flick.
'Being Hokage is my dream.' Finally, we get to see the Rasengan. :)

Jiraiya and Naruto arrive at the village just in time to see the destruction that Orochimaru and Tsunade have already caused. In exchange for restoring Orochimaru’s arms, he promises to bring Tsunade’s little brother and lover back to life. Shizune doesn’t trust him and screams at Tsunade to wake up and not let her feelings get in the way of making rash decisions, but Tsunade instead tells her to shut up. She doesn’t trust Orochimaru, either, but the temptation to have them back in her life is overwhelmingly strong. Kabuto tells her that she doesn’t have to answer now, but in a week they’ll return for her decision. He also tells her to have to sacrifices ready by the time they return. Shizune’s ready to take them out, but she stops when she sees that Tsunade’s in no condition to fight. Orochimaru cleverly bites his finger and allows the blood to drip from his wound, causing Tsunade to watch in horror at the sight of his blood. He knows her weakness and doesn’t hesitate to torture her with it. He tells her that he expects a nice answer from her, and they leave her trembling in fear.

Later that evening, Tsunade gets herself drunk to numb her pain, and it worries Shizune to see her in such agony. She tells her to stop drinking, but Tsunade just brushes her off. Jiraiya and Naruto continue walking through the streets and alleyways of the village looking for her, but Jiraiya decides to take a short break to get something to eat at a sleazy looking bar. Naruto doesn’t feel good about entering a bar since he’s still a kid, but Jiraiya doesn’t think anything of it and tells him to just snack on the appetizers. Not surprisingly, Naruto wants to head out to a ramen restaurant, but Jiraiya tells him that they’ll get more information at places like a bar. Lo and behold, he sees Tsunade at the far end of the bar getting herself drunk, and they both recognize each other immediately. Naruto looks at Tsunade in shock, and the first thing he notices is her big chest (he’s a guy, what do you expect?), and is even more shocked that she looks so young for being fifty years old.

Naruto occupies himself by eating fish while Jiraiya and Tsunade talk about Orochimaru’s return to Konoha. Instead of revealing what really happened, Tsunade gives Shizune a warning look and tells him that they simply exchanged hello’s. Tsunade wants to know why Jiraiya’s been looking for her, and he tells her that Konoha has requested that she become the Fifth Hokage. Naruto almost chokes on his dinner when he hears about the announcement for the first time. Apparently, it’s a shock to everyone else as well. As Jiraiya confirms the truth that Orochimaru has indeed killed the Third, Naruto barges into the conversation with many questions of his own. Noticing Naruto for the first time, Tsunade asks who he is, and after hearing his name, she recognizes him as the kid with the Nine Tails inside of him. Naruto demands to get an answer about who Orochimaru is and why he killed the Third, and he also demands to know why Tsunade was chosen to be the Fifth. Instead of answering, Jiraiya firmly tells him to be quiet. Jiraiya asks her again for her answer regarding the advisors’ request for her to become the Fifth, and she refuses to accept the position. Her response drives Naruto crazy with frustration, but Jiraiya tells him that he’s in no position to comment on her decision. Tsunade responds to Naruto’s reaction by commenting that he’s ruder, dumber, and uglier than his last apprentice (the Fourth). Jiraiya agrees that the Fourth was very talented, popular, and just as good looking as himself, but Tsunade thinks that the Fourth threw his life away for the village and believes that only idiots would bet their lives so easily. Naruto’s fuming at her words of disrespect, but Tsunade continues to talk about how her grandfather (the First) and the Second had wasted their lives on ending the war. Even Jiraiya’s displeased with her crummy attitude, but she simply states that time changes people. She now believes that having the title of Hokage is a piece of crap and that only idiots would want that title. Jiraiya has to hold Naruto back from punching her in the face because of her insulting words toward the Fourth and the Third. Tsunade admires him for having guts to speak to her like that and tells him to step outside.

Tsunade warns him in advance that only one finger will suffice to beat him, and insults him even further by calling him a little boy. He charges her at full force, and she easily sends him tumbling down the alley with a simple finger flick. As he stands there dumbfounded by her amazingly powerful strength, she asks him why he cares so much about the name Hokage, and he firmly tells her that it’s his dream to become Hokage. Tsunade remembers hearing that before and looks away from Naruto with sad eyes. Using her vulnerability to his advantage, Naruto decides to use his new technique and charges her at full force.

Hey, it’s a new ending! Very nice. :)

Naruto #84

Itachi looks ultra cool here. :) Sasuke's stunned to see all the lights out.
Sasuke's parents... STOP!!!!
He's scared that Itachi's going to kill him, too. Sasuke finally gets to confront his brother.
Sasuke fans will be pleased with this screenshot. :) A cool looking Itachi.

This episode demonstrates how much stronger Itachi is than both Sasuke and Naruto. Despite their best efforts, they are simply no match for him. Sasuke believes that he has the strength to kill his brother, but he finds out that he’s not even close to matching his speed and talent. In fact, Itachi tells him that’s he’s just a bother and breaks his arm after Sasuke failis to strike him with the Chidori. Naruto tries to do something and gathers Kyuubi’s chakra to summon one of the toads, but he’s not fast enough to avoid Kisame’s chakra-sucking Samehada, and he soon realizes that they are clearly dealing with people way above their level. Kisame’s about to cut off Naruto’s legs when Jiraiya appears in his usual flashy fashion. What a hoot! He makes me laugh everytime I see him. :)

Naruto #83

'You mean, you're not my hero, Sasuke-kun?' Sasuke's busy training.
Jiraiya and Naruto are so alike... :) Jiraiya's distraction...
Even Naruto's thinking perverted thoughts! Kids these days... Nope, it isn't Jiraiya...

Naruto and Jiraiya are on their way to finding Tsunade, while Sakura tries to butter up to Sasuke for saving her life. Sasuke’s disappointed in himself for not being able to defeat Gaara on his own, and it’s especially difficult for him to admit that Naruto’s quickly surpassing him. However, it’s also the driving force that makes him train harder.
